NORFOLK, Va. — The holiday lights in Downtown Norfolk will be lighting up this Saturday during its annual Grand Illumination Parade.
This is the 38th Annual Norfolk Grand Illumination Parade. It takes place every Saturday before Thanksgiving, so it falls on November 23 this year. Event organizers say the parade brings "thousands of spectators out to the streets of Downtown Norfolk to take in the beauty, magic, and electric holiday spirit to kick off the season."
This year's theme is "Retro Wonderland", with the Downtown Norfolk Council "promising nostalgia-filled festivities filled with the feelings of holidays of old."
There will be vendors along the parade route as well as restaurants to try. The parade will feature floats, marching bands, balloons, and even an appearance from everyone's favorite North Pole resident, Santa Claus.
The 2-mile parade route begins Saturday at 7 p.m. at the corner of St. Paul's Boulevard and Main Street. Norfolk encourages people to arrive early to avoid traffic delays. Click here to view the parade route.
Those who can't attend can watch the show live on Downtown Norfolk's Facebook page.
