NORFOLK, Va. — It's the season of giving, and people are in the thick of holiday shopping. You may be wondering what others are getting their loved ones, too.
The National Retail Federation surveys and lists the top gifts of the year. This year, clothing tops the list followed by gift cards, toys, books, video games, then food and candy.
But we wanted to know what some of the hottest specific gifts are in 2023, so we scoured the internet and checked the charts of some top retailers to find out.
Here are some of the top gifts of 2023.
For adults, here's what stood out in our search:
- Apple Air Tags, those little pucks you throw in your luggage or on a pet collar that allows you to track anything you want to monitor.
The other item is something that kept popping up over and over again in our search, making it one of the most popular gifts overall this year:
- Stanley The Quencher H2.0 FlowState. It’s a tumbler with a reusable straw, but unlike many options out there, this one fits in your car’s cup holder. People are really after these right now.
When it comes to toys, this year is all about throwbacks, and again, two items stood out:
- The Barbie Dreamhouse from Mattel. The big, pink playset is likely seeing a surge in popularity thanks to the Barbie movie that came out this year. But you have to admit, its three-story slide looks like a lot of fun.
Finally, the 90s toy craze centered around the odd, sometimes cute furry friend is back:
- Furby. Hasbro relaunched the interactive toy this year, celebrating its 25th anniversary, and they are hugely popular once again. This time, the toy features over 600 responses to keep your kids entertained for hours.
