20th anniversary for Coliseum Central Holiday Parade

The parade will feature numerous high school bands, large helium balloons, inflatable walking characters, animals, floats, and of course: Santa Claus!

HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) — It's a tradition 20 years in the making: the annual Coliseum Central Holiday Parade.

Held every year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, the parade marches down Coliseum Drive from Sentara CarePlex Hospital, through Peninsula Town Center and ends in the Riverpointe Shopping Center. Pre-parade entertainment begins at 8:30 a.m., with the parade starting at 9:30.

The parade will feature numerous high school bands, large helium balloons, inflatable walking characters, animals, floats, and of course: Santa Claus!

ROAD CLOSURES:

Beginning at approximately 5:30 a.m. and lasting until approximately noon on Saturday, November 17, Hampton Roads Center Parkway between Coliseum Drive and N. Armistead Avenue will be closed to all through traffic to accommodate the parade.

At approximately 9 a.m., Coliseum Drive between Hampton Roads Center Parkway and West Mercury Boulevard will be closed. Citizens and visitors can continue to access businesses in the Coliseum Central area, but should be aware of the road closings and use alternate routes to travel to their destinations.

Sentara CarePlex Hospital will have its N. Armistead Avenue entrance open for those needing to access its facility. For more information, please call 757-826-6351.
