Try the 'Caramel Grizzly' at Bear House Coffee, a Norfolk-based mobile coffee roaster and espresso bar

Roasters on the go, Stephen and Mickey Davis, take their coffee on wheels for all of Hampton Roads to enjoy.

NORFOLK, Va. — Bear House Coffee started as a dream for Stephen Davis.

"Stephen started this and built it from the ground up. But then about a year and a half ago, I started coming on with him," said his wife, Mickey.

Stephen said they love operating their coffee shop out of a mobile trailer. "There's a lot of fun that comes with being mobile, like the special events and everything. We enjoy getting out."

Right now, they can be found at Norfolk Botanical Garden. However, they also attend festivals and other events to ensure you have your coffee!

"It's really important for me to meet new faces and get to know new people, and it's really cool some of the experiences you get to have in doing that," Stephen explained.

They hope that whatever event you are at, you remember the name Bear House Coffee

"Bear is kind of a biblical sense of the word bear... like bearing together with one another. I was like, 'I like that. Let me run with it.' And I also love bears," Stephen laughed when he explained the name.

They took the name to an entirely new level with the bear puns. Starting with their roasts, light, medium, and dark roasts are now black bears, brown bears, and polar bears. They also serve bear-named drinks, like their most popular, the Caramel Grizzly.

"That one doesn't leave the menu," Stephen started, "It's a bit of caramel, a bit of honey, and a bit of cinnamon."

They only serve espresso. Stephen said there's a lot of love behind the bean, and he roasts himself inside the shop.

"I think we are possibly one of the only people in the U.S. roasting inside their trailer," he smiled, looking back at his coffee shop.

Stephen said that he always looks to see if people roast their beans, and so it was important he did that, too. "That's really important to me. When I started this, that was the vision. To make sure I was roasting. That was being done on the trailer, and people could see that."

It's a grizzly passion, but one he and Mickey hope to fill your cup when you stop by Bear Coffee House
