NORFOLK, Va. — The Virginia Zoo is welcoming an adorable new face!
A red panda named Sampson is the newest addition to the Virginia Zoo. He has been added to the "Asia: Trial of the Tiger" exhibit.
Sampson came from the Indianapolis Zoo on a breeding recommendation from the Red Panda Species Survival Plan.
Red pandas are endangered. There are multiple threats to red pandas including habitat loss due to development projects, being hunted for fur and pet trade, climate change, and their vulnerability to diseases and natural disasters.
