Park attendant saves osprey from water in James City County

Boaters near the Jamestown Ferry disturbed a federally protected osprey nest causing a young bird to fall into the water and get waterlogged.

JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. — A young osprey was rescued after falling into the water on Tuesday afternoon, the James City County Police Department said.

Police said that around 5:30 p.m., boaters near the Jamestown Ferry disturbed a federally protected osprey nest, one of the young birds to fall into the water and get waterlogged.

A park attendant rescued the bird from the water and James City County Fire Department personnel returned the bird to its nest.
