HAMPTON, Va. — On Thursday evening around 5:30 p.m., Hampton Fire crews were alerted to an unusual call. A horse was stuck in the mud near a creek, and had been stuck, evidently, for a while.
Hampton Fire reached out to Suffolk Fire & Rescue for their "equine rescue expertise," they said. And with the assistance of Tidewater Express Inc. -- a towing company -- and a veterinarian, the horse, named Tango, was lifted with a rotator wrecker form the mud after 9 p.m. She received "the proper treatment to help her recover," Hampton Fire said in their Facebook post about the incident.
"As of early this morning, Tango finally stood on her own and seems to be well on her way to rejoining her equine friends in the pasture," Hampton Fire said.
