VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — CORRECTION: This story has been updated to remove incorrect information. Despite being at critical capacity, the Virginia Beach Animal Care Center continues to accept new animals, according to a city spokeswoman.
The Virginia Beach Animal Care and Adoption Center is incentivizing pet lovers to adopt their new furry best friend as the shelter is full.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the shelter said it has reached "critical capacity" and is "once again out of space."
"Our kennels have been split to make room for all of the animals coming into shelter and it's cramped," the shelter's post reads.
To help open up space, the shelter is offering a special deal on large dogs. From Wednesday to Sunday, Nov. 19, all dogs weighing 50 pounds or more will be available for adoption for $10.
The shelter has dogs, cats and even guinea pigs up for adoption. For a look at all the animals available, visit the adoption center's website here.
