NORFOLK, Va. — The Virginia Zoo is bringing several fun events to Norfolk this summer.
The City of Norfolk has created the initiative to focus on Life Learning and this summer is hosting the "Summer of Learning." It's seven weeks of activities for learners of all ages from over 100 community organizations in the city.
As part of this initiative, the Virginia Zoo is featuring Zoo Tales at the Slover Library every Wednesday in July from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Every reading will include two stories and an animal presentation.
Every day this summer at the zoo, there will be at least four scheduled activities on Zoo grounds for guests that are free with admission, including chats by Zoo staff educating on different aspects of zoo keeping, including talks specifically for toddlers.
The Virginia Zoo is also holding a special after-hours event, just for members on Thursday, June 22 from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be food trucks, educator-led behind-the-scenes sneak peeks in Asia, and the public's first look into the re-opening of Trail of the Tiger.
