VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- It 's time to hit the beach and kick up some sand.
That's just what will be happening this weekend as the McDonald's North American Sand Soccer Championships returns to the Va. Beach Oceanfront.
In its 22nd year, professionals and amateurs compete in the Mardi Gras at the Beach. A "Samba on the Sand" festival literally kicks off the summer season.

The tournament is a charity event for the development of the Hampton Roads Soccer Complex in Virginia Beach, which hosts 400,000 visitors each year. NASSC has raised more than $5 million for charity since 1994.
