NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- It's not everyday Virginia is represented all the way in Ireland!
Old Dominion University Marching Monarch and Christopher Newport Marching Captains marching bands performed in Dublin's St. Patrick's Festival Parade, kicking off the annual four-day celebration in Ireland's capital.
The Marching Monarchs capped off their trip by winning the "Best International Band" prize at the 46th Limerick International Band Championship.
ODU's band also participated in the iconic festival parade that was attended by a half-million people, as one of four American college bands invited to Dublin.
The parade was streamed live online.
ODU and CNU are two of four American university bands invited to participate in this year's parade.
