DOSWELL, Va. (AP) - Kings Dominion plans to open a new thrill called Delirium in the spring of 2016.
Kings Dominion said Thursday that Delirium will be located in the park's Candy Apple Grove section.
The park described Delirium as a spinning pendulum.40 riders will be strapped in seats facing outward on a giant ring, and will soar to a height of 115 feet at a maximum arc of 120 degrees. The riders will swing back and forth, feet dangling, as the ring rotates.
Delirium will replace the Shockwave, which made its final run on Aug. 9. The Shockwave was the first stand-up roller coaster on the East Coast. Construction begins this fall.
