VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- Norfolk-native David Wright, captain of the National League Champion New York Mets, hosted the sixth annual Vegas-style charity event for Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters on Friday at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.

Nearly 400 supporters braved the weather to attend the sold-out event, which included a poker tournament and casino games.

The event raised a record $201,000 for CHKD.

This year's event brought the six-year cumulative total to $951,000. Funds from past events have been used to renovate the hospital playroom and provide critical support for patient care.

An avid supporter of CHKD for many years, this is the sixth Vegas Night hosted by Wright.
