Several events canceled across Hampton Roads amid flood warnings, stormy weather

Many events have been canceled across Hampton Roads as storms could lead to heavy downpours and an increased threat of flooding.
Crews in Virginia Beach are preparing for potential flooding ahead of forecasted rain.

NORFOLK, Va. — As stormy weather moves through Hampton Roads, several events in the area have been canceled for this weekend.

The storms are slow-moving, and combined with high humidity, could lead to heavy downpours and an increased threat of flooding. A few flash flood warnings are in effect Friday.

Here's a look at event cancelations across Hampton Roads.

50 Fest Celebration in Suffolk

The 50 Fest Celebration event was set for Saturday at 5 p.m., but Suffolk Parks & Recreation canceled the event due to the inclement weather.

The event has been rescheduled to Aug. 3 at 5 p.m.

TGIF Summer Concert Series in Suffolk

The concert scheduled for Friday has been canceled. 

City officials said the series will continue with four more concerts at Bennett’s Creek Park:

  • The Deloreans on July 26
  • Roberta Lea on Aug. 2
  • Slap Nation on Aug. 9
  • Anthony Rosano and the Conqueroos on Aug. 16

Busch Gardens in Williamsburg

The amusement park closed the park early at 5 p.m. on Friday due to inclement weather.

The park will reopen on Saturday at 10 a.m.
