VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- The 10th annual JT Walk to help in the fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) will be held at the Oceanfront on Oct. 8.
The event will be on the boardwalk at 34th Street.
In 2007, Josh Thompson was diagnosed with ALS. Thompson's brother partnered with ALSA in the local walk in 2008, after receiving word of his brother's diagnosis.
Since then, the JT Walk has become the ALS association's largest single-day walk fundraiser in the nation. It was moved to the Oceanfront shortly after the partnership began, because attendance was expected to increase significantly.
In the past nine years, more than 30,000 people have gathered at the Oceanfront to participate in the walk.
