VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- A local take on Dancing with the Stars takes place Saturday at the Sandler Center for Performing Arts.
13News Now Reporter Kaila DeRienzo is the first contestant scheduled to perform with partner Taras Denysenko of Arthur Murray Dance Studio.
Anchor Joe Flanagan will host the night's festivities.
The event, sponsored in part by ABC13, is a fundraiser to benefit local arts groups including Virginia Musical Theater and The Governors School for the Arts.
Twenty-four local contestants are set to perform. The group includes business leaders, media celebrities, civic and political leaders and other various professionals with limited or no dance experience. They are paired with a professional dancer/choreographer and will perform before a live audience and professional judges.
