WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — The Washington Commanders Marching Band is making a trip to Hampton Roads to perform in Williamsburg’s 2024 Christmas Parade.

“This marks the first time an NFL band has performed in our parade, and we couldn’t be more honored to have them,” said Terry Banez, CEO of the Greater Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce (GWCC).

The Commanders Band is slated to kick off the holiday season by leading the biggest stars of the night – Santa and Mrs. Claus.

“We invite everyone to join us for what promises to be a truly memorable event,” said Banez.

The theme of this year’s parade is to “Believe,” encouraging participants to reflect on what’s important to them while creating their floats. Spectators are also invited to become ‘part of the spectacle’ by adorning themselves with light-up clothing and accessories.

The annual parade is a tradition that dates back to 1965 and has since united the local community in the holiday spirit. According to the GWCC, last year’s parade saw record-breaking attendance, with more than 21,000 spectators flocking to Downtown Williamsburg for the festivities.

This year’s parade kicks off at 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 8. The route begins on Richmond Road at Brooks Street and ends at Nassau Street.
