CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WVEC) -- This weekend, come out to the 11th annual Hampton Roads Rubber Duck Race and support a great cause.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., thousands of rubber ducks will float down the Intracoastal Waterway. The "duck drop" -- when thousands of little rubber duckies go into the water -- will take place at approximately 2:15.
First place will win a $10,000 grand prize and second place will get a $1,000 shopping spree from GrandBrands Ashley Furniture. Third and fourth place prizes are baskets of dining and entertainment gift certificates worth $500 and $250, respectively.
Events include food, games, and music. There is no admission charge.
Hampton Roads Rubber Duck Race tickets are $5 each, and purchasers can also get "more ducks for their bucks" with flock pricing. Tickets are now on sale by calling the CHIP office at 543-9100, and will also be available for sale at the event site on the day of the race.
The event will benefit Children's Health Investment Program and children in the community and will take place at the Intracoastal Waterway at Great Bridge located at 116 Reservation Road.
