NORFOLK, Va. — A live orchestra is bringing Avatar: The Last Airbender to life in a two-hour concert at Norfolk's Chrysler Hall this summer.
As part of its world tour launching in August, Avatar: The Last Airbender In Concert is visiting 100 cities across the globe, including Norfolk.
"Immerse yourself in an over two-hour production with a live orchestra bringing the show’s iconic musical score to life, in perfect harmony with highlights and favorite moments from the series. Taiko and erhu will share the spotlight with violins and clarinets, while the series' most beloved scenes play out on screen, bringing viewers into the Avatar world to experience the series’ most memorable moments with Aang, Katara, Toph, Sokka, Zuko and more," a release reads.
The tour was made possible thanks to Emmy Award-winning composer and musician Jeremy Zuckerman, the original show co-creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko and the series' original editor Jeff Adams. According to the release, the four have collaborated to expand the show's original compositions for the concert series.
"This spectacular production not only magnifies the epic scope and high drama of the series, but also marks a thrilling first for fans offering an opportunity to experience the captivating world of Avatar: The Last Airbender through this live orchestra concert."
The concert will come to Chrysler Hall on Aug. 23, beginning at 8 p.m.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday on both the tour's website and Ticketmaster's website.
