Madison Schlegel joins the 13News Now team as a weekend anchor and multi-skilled journalist. She started with WVEC in the fall of 2024 and is brand new to the Hampton Road area.

Madison is coming from Metro-Detroit, where she worked as a morning anchor and correspondent for the national news platform, NEWSnet from 2022 to 2024.

Before that, Madison started her career in 2019 at 9&10 News (WWTV) in Cadillac, Michigan. She was their nightside reporter and weekend MSJ for two years in Traverse City. She also got the opportunity to be a morning reporter for “Michigan This Morning,” their four-and-a-half-hour morning show, doing over a dozen live hits a morning.

In addition, Madison co-hosted “The Four,” an hour-long lifestyle talk show, conducting live interviews and producing segments.

In 2021, Madison was acknowledged by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters, winning a merit award for news reporter of the year, as well as being a part of the team winning best continuing coverage for the year.

Although Madison has spent most of her professional life in Michigan. she's from Joliet, Illinois; she graduated from Joliet West High School and studied at DePaul University in Chicago.

In her free time, you can find Madison thrifting/antiquing, finding new places to eat, or spending time with her two cats Patterson and Pru.
