Brad is excited to be part of the 13News Now team and serve the Hampton Roads Community as Assistant News Director. Brad began this role in Norfolk in September 2024 after spending nearly a decade at 13News Now's sister station ABC24 in Memphis, first as a reporter and then as Content Manager. He is thrilled to be closer to his home state of North Carolina and family and friends in the Charlotte area and across the Tar Heel state.

Brad's passion for broadcast journalism began in fifth grade after being interviewed on a WXII broadcast in Winston-Salem, NC. He continued that passion at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, covering news and sports on the student-run broadcast Carolina Week.

After graduating from UNC with a double major in broadcast journalism and political science, Brad embarked on a nearly two-decade reporting career with stops in Wisconsin, Illinois, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Now, Brad is excited to continue that lifelong journalism passion in a mentorship and leadership role with the talented team at WVEC and showcase the stories that matter to viewers, seek solutions, and solve problems.

In his spare time, Brad enjoys exploring the many sunny waterfront options in Hampton Roads, checking out the local culinary scene, and golfing (and exercising when he can find the motivation). He is also a huge Pearl Jam fan, seeing them 26 times in concert to date (and counting).

If you have a story you would like Brad or the 13 News Now team to check out, please email him at bbroders@13newsnow.com.
