HAMPTON, Va. — A Hampton man pleaded guilty on Tuesday to an armed bank robbery in downtown Hampton.

According to a release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, court documents showed that 36-year-old Delonta Wilson entered the Old Point National Bank in downtown Hampton on the morning of October 16, 2023.

Wilson then approached an elderly customer from behind and held her at knifepoint while forcing her toward the teller's counter. Wilson demanded money from the teller while threatening to cut the customer's throat if they didn't comply.

In fear for the customer's safety, the tellers gave Wilson $6,550.

Wilson is scheduled to be sentenced on June 6. He faces a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison.
