VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — It all started with a small, homemade batch of dog biscuits for a fireworks party at Chick’s Beach.
That one batch blossomed into a whole business about to walk the red carpet! Blair Ellis' business, Bay Dog Biscuits, will be featured during the 91st annual Academy Awards.
“I received an email from Celebrity Connected,” said Ellis. “And they invited me to participate in this gifting suite.”
Ellis thought the email may have been spam at first, but after a conference call with the organization, she confirmed the offer was legitimate.
She told 13News Now she was contacted after someone saw her biscuits on Instagram.
She still makes every biscuit by hand in her Virginia Beach home, but she’s open to the idea of expanding if the treats are received well in Hollywood.
Ellis is an administrator at Tidewater Community College, she’s finishing up her doctorate at Regent University, and serves as an adjunct business professor at Old Dominion University.
She has her hands full right now, but she’s still taking time to enjoy the moment.
“We’re excited about this wonderful opportunity that may be waiting for us,” said Ellis.
