COURTLAND, Va. — One person was airlifted to the hospital after a tractor-trailer hauling peanuts overturned in Southampton County Thursday morning, spilling its contents on the side of the road.
According to the Courtland Volunteer Fire Department, the accident happened in the 13000 block of Plank Road. One person inside the truck was ejected as the vehicle overturned.
The person was taken by VCU LifeEvac 1 as a trauma patient. There is no immediate word on the person's condition.
The fire department said a small diesel fuel leak was mitigated.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
