VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) — A motorcyclist died following a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 264 in Virginia Beach Thursday night, Virginia State Police said.

According to investigators, a 1998 Ford Mustang driven by 25-year-old Rasheen Montreal Beasley got onto I-264 west from Rosemont Road at a high rate of speed around 9:13 p.m. Beasley reportedly cut off a 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer, causing the Mitsubishi to hit the Mustang from behind.

The impact of the crash caused Beasley to lose control and hit a 2016 Harley Davidson FX motorcycle that was in another lane.

The motorcyclist, 35-year-old Joshua David Patterson, lost control of the Harley and ran off the road, hitting a jersey wall and being ejected onto eastbound lanes of traffic.

Patterson was taken to Virginia Beach General Hospital, where he died due to complications from his injuries overnight.

Beasley, the driver of the Mustang, suffered non-life threatening injuries and is currently facing charges of driving under the influence.
