VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — No one was hurt after a fuel tanker caught fire and leaked fuel in Virginia Beach on Monday.
The Virginia Beach Fire Department said it happened in the 3500 block of Cellar Door Way, near Dam Neck Road. A fuel tanker truck caught fire, and its fuel tank ruptured in the process. Hazmat crews were able to stop the leak, and the remaining diesel and gasoline were safely transferred to other trucks that were standing by.
Contractors were brought in to mitigate and clean up the remaining fuel spill.
The fire department did not say what may have sparked the fire on board the truck.
