SUFFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Firefighters had to cut off the top panel of a recycling truck to reach a fire that had broken out inside it Friday morning.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue said the call came in shortly after 11 a.m. about a vehicle fire at Jottom Lane and Wilroy Road.
Heavy smoke had begun to rise up from the bed of a TFC Recycling truck. The driver got out of the vehicle safely.
Rather than dump the truck's load, crews cut off the top panel to get to and extinguish the burning debris.
No word on what may have started the fire.
