PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WVEC) -- A motorcade escorted the Portsmouth Police Officer Angelina Baaklini when she was discharged from the hospital Tuesday night.
The officer was shot on November 6 by a 15-year-old boy at at the 2500 block of Hickory Street.
The boy admitted he was a gang member.
Investigators say Officer Baaklini was shot five times when she tried to put handcuffs onto the suspect. She had to undergo two surgeries.

"This moment is unbelievable," said Spokeswoman for the Portsmouth Police Department, Misty Holly. "You can't put into words how awesome this is as a family because that's what this department is, we are a big family."
The 15-year-old faces several charges including Attempted Capital Murder and is currently being held at the Chesapeake Juvenile Services.
Two blood drivers were held in honor of Officer Baaklini.
